Justify your posting or lose it – CP warns DPOs, Supervisory Officers
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, on Monday cautioned supervisory officers to redouble their efforts to justify their postings or face immediate replacement.
Giwa made the remark during the Commissioner of Police’s Strategic Conference with Senior Officers in Enugu.
He said that any Divisional Police Officer, Head of Tactical Squad and other Units found wanting would be relived of his or her posting immediately.
He emphasised that the directive formed a core part of new measures aimed at strengthening accountability and operational excellence within the Command.
Giwa also outlined a performance management strategy that combined strict accountability with meaningful incentives as well as embodying a carrot-and-stick approach
According to him, officers who fail to demonstrate effective leadership, maintain discipline, or meet operational targets will be swiftly sanctioned, while outstanding performances will be recognised and rewarded.
Highlighting the critical need for public trust, the Commissioner said, “the people of Enugu State deserve nothing less than your utmost dedication.
“This is not merely a warning, it is our new operational standard.
“Those who cannot meet these expectations have no place in leadership within the Command.”
He noted that “the era of complacency is over,”adding that every officer must now prove daily that they deserved their position.
“These reforms are part of the Command’s ongoing transformation initiative to eradicate misconduct and enhance service delivery, aligning with the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr Olukayode Egbetokun,” he added.
