Securityman remanded in Prison custody over alleged rape of tailor inside her xhop
An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday, ordered the remand of a securityman, Prince Micah, 21, over alleged rape of a tailor in her shop.
Micah is facing a three-count charge of rape, attempted murder and armed robbery.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, who did not take defendant’s plea, ordered his remand at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan.
Ogunkanmi said that the defendant should be kept in custody pending legal advice from the office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ministry of Justice.
The chief magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter untill August 28, for mention.
The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye told the court that Micah, on May 17, at 3:00p.m. at Hope Street, Oluwo Nla Area, Bashorun, Ibadan, allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a tailor, aged 29, without her consent.
Opaleye said that when the tailor made efforts to resist the defendant’s attack by grabbing a scissors, he forcefully dispossessed her of the sciccors and cut her ear.
The prosecutor added that the defendant also used an empty bottle of beer to hit the victim on the head in an attempt to cause her death.
Opaleye alleged that the defendant while armed with the bottle robbed the victim of her Vivo and Techno Android phones valued N250,000.
He said that her screams later attracted
people in the neighborhood who apprehended the defendant before police was invited to the scene.
Opaleye said that the offence contravened Section 357 and was punishable under Section 358, 320 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The prosecutor said that the offence also contravened Section 1(2) (a) (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap RII, Vol. 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004.
Man allegedly defiled two minors aged 7 and 9 who came to fetch water in his house
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Bamaiyi Muagaji, in the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling two minors.
Muagaji whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged defilement.
His plea was, however, not taken.
The Prosecutor, Insp Moyosola Adesola, told the court that the suspect committed the offence between April 2025 and May 2025 in Ado-Ekiti.
She alleged that the suspect defiled a seven-year-old girl and nine-year-old girl respectively.
Adesola said the victims on two different occasions went to fetch water from the suspect’s house, and while on it, he called them inside and asked them to pull off their pants and defiled them.
According to her, the offence contravened Section 31 of Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.
He also adjourned the case until June 23 for mention
