The Lagos State Police Command has announced a revision to the previously scheduled restriction on vehicular and waterways movement ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Elections slated for Saturday, July 12, 2025, across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, the restriction of movement will now take effect from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, instead of the earlier announced 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The adjustment, according to the statement, is aimed at addressing concerns raised by residents with critical medical emergencies, essential appointments, and long-scheduled international travel plans. The Police Command assured the public that the new timing would still allow for proper security coordination while also offering some flexibility to those with pressing needs.

“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate and respect the new timing. The Command remains committed to ensuring a secure, safe, and orderly electoral process,” the statement reads.

The Commissioner of Police further urged Lagosians to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activity during the election period. For emergencies or reports, the public is advised to contact the command through the following lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.

With just days to the elections, the Lagos State Police Command reiterated its resolve to work closely with relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and security across all polling units and communities.
