The Police Service Commission
announces promotion of 952 ASPs to DSP, rejects 179 retired, deceased officers
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)
However, 176 officers were excluded from the exercise after it was confirmed that they had retired, while three others were found to be deceased.
The decision was announced by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani after the first plenary meeting of the 6th Board of the Commission, held in Abuja.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold discipline, patriotism, and strict adherence to police regulations.
He cautioned that the Commission would not tolerate unauthorised or diversionary conduct and emphasized that grievances must be routed through established channels.
Argungu further assured serving officers that the Commission remains committed to protecting their career advancement.
Some of the officers promoted include Maidawa Yakubu, Edwin Thomas, Chagga Yakubu, Sabo Hassan, Omini Dickson, Bassey Alobo, Enyinnaya Ejimadu, and Grace Okon.
The full list of promoted officers has been forwarded to the Inspector General of Police for implementation.
