IGP Appoints Seasoned Investigator DCP Hope Okereke to Lead Enugu SCID

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has officially assigned Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hope Isiani Okereke to the Enugu State Police Command. She now serves as the officer in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

DCP Okereke stepped into her new role on January 5, 2026. According to reports from the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), she has already taken full command of criminal investigations and operational oversight across the state.

This strategic move highlights the Police Force’s trust in her professional mastery, investigative skills, and her steadfast dedication to ethical policing and discipline.

Distinguished Career Path

DCP Hope Okereke is a veteran officer with over 20 years of experience spanning intelligence, operations, and administration. A graduate of Linguistics and Communication Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, she joined the Force in 2002 and completed her training at the Police Academy, Wudil, in 2004.

Proven Leadership & Experience

Her career is marked by a series of high-impact roles:

 * Operational Roots: Served as Divisional Traffic Officer in Borno and worked within the State Intelligence Bureau.

 * Command Excellence: Acted as Women Unit Commander for the 56 Police Mobile Force in Rivers State and served as DPO for several key divisions, including the Sani Abacha and Olu-Obasanjo stations.

 * Award-Winning Service: While in Rivers State, she was honored as the Most Outstanding Performing DPO.

Deep Roots in Enugu

DCP Okereke is no stranger to Enugu. Since 2017, she has held various pivotal roles in the state, including DPO of the Trans-Ekulu and New Haven divisions. After her promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), she managed operations at Zone 9 Headquarters in Umuahia before returning to Enugu as ACP Administration in 2022.
