A teenager, Ayomide Yusuf, has been arrested and charged for allegedly burgling Ijegun Market in Lagos State at night and carting away electrical parts and iron rods worth N5.5m. 
Crimewatchnewspaper reports that the incident happened at the market located along Ijegemo Road, Ijegun area of the state.

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and sneaked into the market and carted away those items belonging to the market association led by Chief Ganyu Sikiru despite the fact there were security guards in the market.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division after the market leaders led by Chief Sikiru came to the market in the morning and discovered that the items were missing and the security guards were unable to explain what happened.
Thus, the Police moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over the missing items. And investigation, the Police found him culpable for the alleged offence.
He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 15th April, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
