Transformative Leadership in Ejigbo LCDA: A Legacy of Development under Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan
During his tenure as Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan demonstrated visionary leadership and a deep commitment to grassroots development. His administration delivered a series of impactful, people-oriented projects that significantly improved infrastructure, public services, and community welfare in the area.
Infrastructure Development
One of the cornerstones of Hon. Bamigbetan’s leadership was the aggressive push for infrastructure renewal. Under his watch, major roads such as Rainbow Avenue, Double Star Road, Kayode Powerline Road, and Jubril Olabisi Street were constructed, enhancing transportation and connectivity across the LCDA. Perhaps most notably, the completion and commissioning of the Ejigbo link bridge cut travel time by over 75 minutes, while simultaneously boosting the value of real estate in the surrounding communities—a landmark achievement in urban planning for the area.
Enhancing Public Safety: Fire Service Delivery
Recognizing the need for prompt emergency response services, Hon. Bamigbetan inaugurated the first-ever fire service station in the LCDA. Beyond providing critical infrastructure for public safety, the station also created employment opportunities for 20 local youths who were trained and employed as fire personnel.
Investments in Education
Understanding that education is the bedrock of development, his administration embarked on extensive school construction and renovation projects. Among the notable achievements was the upgrade of Dele Alake Public Primary School in Ailegun. Additionally, the council implemented social intervention programs that provided free notebooks, school uniforms, meals, and examination forms (GCE and JAMB), ensuring that financial constraints did not hinder educational access for residents.
Clean Water for the People
A comprehensive water reticulation project was initiated to address the community's need for clean and safe water. This project significantly improved public health and hygiene conditions in the area.
Boosting Local Economy through Abattoir Construction
To support the local economy and enhance food safety, Hon. Bamigbetan oversaw the construction of a modern abattoir within the LCDA. This not only created employment but also improved meat processing standards in the area.
Empowering the Community
The administration actively engaged with grassroots organizations, providing grants to Community Development Associations (CDAs) to support local projects. Vocational training programs were also rolled out to equip residents with skills for self-reliance, thus fostering economic empowerment at the community level.
A Legacy of Impact
Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan's time as Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA stands as a testament to effective and compassionate governance. His focus on inclusive development, infrastructure enhancement, and social welfare created lasting improvements in the lives of Ejigbo residents. His tenure not only set a new standard for local governance but also provided a template for how leadership at the grassroots can drive meaningful change.
