The Enugu State Police Command has denied reports that the country home of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Frank Mba, located in Ezimo, Udenu Local Government Area, was attacked by gunmen. According to the police, the rumors circulating on social media about an attempted kidnapping of Mba's parents or relatives are false.
On September 18, 2025, at around 8 p.m., police operatives responded to a distress call and foiled an armed robbery attack in the Ezimo community. Unfortunately, one police officer was fatally shot during the exchange of gunfire. The police have arrested one suspect and are currently investigating the incident, with a manhunt underway for the other suspects.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has assured the public of the command's unwavering commitment to tackling violent crimes in the state. He urged operatives to sustain their efforts in apprehending the fleeing suspects.
