~ KOK’s administration as the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, was able to comply with the content of this write-up
As a public servant, accountability is not just a moral obligation, but a constitutional requirement. For eight years, an LCDA chairman was entrusted with the sacred duty of serving his community, but unfortunately, he failed to deliver on his promises. The lack of transparency and accountability in his stewardship has led to investigations by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Instead of burying his face in shame, Arobafin and his unlettered spoke(s), keep(s) putting the blame on his perceived enemies.
This is a stark reminder that public office is a public trust, and those who abuse this trust will be held accountable. The absence of immunity for local government/LCDS chairmen means that they are not above the law and will be investigated and prosecuted if found guilty of any wrongdoing.
*The Importance of Accountability*
Accountability is essential for good governance, as it ensures that public officials act in the best interest of the people they serve. It promotes transparency, prevents corruption, and builds trust between the government and the citizens. When public officials are held accountable for their actions, it serves as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to abuse their power.
*A Warning to Local Government/LCDA Chairmen*
To all local government/LCDA chairmen, this is a warning: you are not above the law. Your actions will be scrutinized, and you will be held accountable for any wrongdoing. The days of impunity are over, and it is time to take your responsibilities seriously.
As a(n) local government/LCDA chairman, you have a duty to:
- Be transparent in your financial dealings
- Provide regular updates on your stewardship
- Engage with your community and respond to their concerns
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability
*Note: KOK briefed his constituents on monthly basis, giving account of stewardship: how much came in and how much went out.*
*Conclusion*
Accountability is not just a responsibility, but a fundamental aspect of good governance. Local government/LCDA chairmen must take their responsibilities seriously and be accountable to the people they serve. The EFCC and ICPC will continue to investigate and prosecute those who abuse their power, and it is only a matter of time before justice is served.
*Note: KOK left office as the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA 11 years ago, there was no controversy of any of his staff, reported to either or both anti graft agencies.*
Let this be a lesson to all local government/LCDA chairmen: accountability is not optional, it is mandatory. You will be held accountable for your actions, and it is time to take your responsibilities seriously.
